Music Theory Teachers
Jayne has been a teacher, and representative for the London College of Music and Registry of Guitar Tutors examination boards for over 29 years. Jayne’s professional career began performing at local events and private functions either as a soloist or with her drummer. Jayne teaches keyboard and piano at TMS and worked as a peripatetic keyboard teacher at Thomas Telford School. As LCM representative, she regularly hosts concerts and charity events bringing talented students from recent examination sessions to perform in the Mayor’s Parlour, Wolverhampton.
Jayne has been Director of TMS since August 2011 and enjoys working with fellow teachers to promote and inspire students to enjoy and progress in their music.
Anne is one of our piano teachers. She graduated in 1974 from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester with Shirley Blakey and Professor Walter Joysz and has been teaching ever since. In 2011 Anne became a freelance accompanist within the Vocal and Operatic Department at Birmingham Conservatoire. Regularly accompanying musicians from around the county for graded music exams and concerts. Anne is also Musical Director of the Shifnal and District Male Choir.
Now busier than ever, Anne teaches students of all ages and levels.
Marion was born in London and studied at Trinity College. Principally an oboist, she has over 35 years experience of music teaching and has spent the majority of her career tutoring a variety of instruments, performing with orchestras and chamber groups, and playing piano accompaniment for examinations. As a composer she has published several of her own pieces too, and enjoys writing music for teaching and for friendly ensembles. Being a multi-instrumentalist she teaches Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, Recorders, Violin, Viola, Piano and Music Theory.
Marion likes to perform with regional orchestras and ensembles, loving serious Chamber Music most of all, and playing principally Oboe, Cor Anglais and Viola at local events.
Julie teaches keyboard and music theory at Telford Music School. She passed all her exams with the London College of Music and has 27 years experience in teaching both adults and children at varying levels as well as people with disabilities.
Julie has two children and as well as her passion for music, she also loves animals, keeping fit and travelling (especially around South East Asia).
Her love for animals, in particular, elephants is something her beginner pupils know all too well when she teaches them her rhyme for remembering the letter names on the treble stave - Elephants Got Big Dirty Feet!
Ryan is a composer and pianist with a 1st class honours degree in composition from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Ryan has frequently performed at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff and has released five studio albums. Before his degree, Ryan studied piano with Mark Tanner and continued his piano studies whilst at Music College.
Ryan has QTS achieved by completing a PGCE in Secondary Education and has had over seven years mainstream classroom music teaching experience.
Ryan continues to compose and is currently developing his own series of piano books for young beginners as well as other music book publishing.
Gary is a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher of music with 20 years experience in ‘one to one’ tuition of piano, electronic keyboards and music theory to people of all ages.
He has had particular successes in teaching students in age range Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 5 inspiring them to achieve their musical potential, some whom he has tutored from beginner up to Diploma level.
The appreciation, studying and performing of music is an enriching and very rewarding pursuit and it is a great reward for me to see my students develop and achieve their musical potential, with the aim to enhance their enjoyment and appreciation of music for a lifetime.
Andrew graduated from Birmingham Conservatoire in 2015 with a Bmus (hons) in Music Performance. He is a Violin teacher and part of a string quartet and is working towards professional orchestral playing, looking for a career comprised of teaching orchestral, chamber and other ensemble playing.
Chloe began her musical journey having lessons at TMS from the age of 5! After passing her exams with the London College of Music and completing a degree in Primary Education from the University of Worcester, Chloe has returned to TMS to combine her love of music and teaching. She teaches Keyboard and Piano and enjoys working with students of all ages and abilities.
